Drawing upon over 40 years of experience, the authors of Statistics, 11th Edition provide business professionals with a clear and methodical approach to essential statistical procedures. The text clearly explains the basic concepts and procedures of descriptive and inferential statistical analysis. It features an emphasis on expressions involving sums of squares and degrees of freedom as well as a strong stress on the importance of variability. This accessible approach will help business professionals tackle such perennially mystifying topics as the standard deviation, variance interpretation of the correlation coefficient, hypothesis tests, degrees of freedom, p-values, and estimates of effect size.

My intermediate statistics professor is convinced that this is "the best intro stats textbook out there," but I'm not so sure. It's quite competent, yes, but some of the details are a little funky. For instance, the chapter on correlation precedes the discussion of power, so there is no mention in the book of appropriate sample sizes for a correlational study. Also, the ninth edition has very few substantive changes from the eighth. There are a few subtle differences in, for instance, the numbers used in examples and questions. On the other hand, there is a random number table and a good discussion of how to use it, and the z, t, and F tables are set up well and their use is explained clearly. As a student, I wish that there were pages of formulas, but I suppose making my own is a learning experience. If you are looking for a statistics text that incorporates PASW (SPSS), this book is not for you. There is mention that the software exists, but that's it. It sounds as though I really dislike this textbook, but I don't. The language is clear and the examples are appropriate and interesting, which is more than I can say for some statistics textbooks! The explanation of the sampling distribution is particularly skillful.Product details

Statistics 11th Edition Robert S Witte John S Witte 9781119386056 Books Reviews
This is my favorite statistics book to date. The chapters are well organized and easy to work through. Examples are clearly presented. The authors have done an outstanding job of breaking down the tasks into understandable language. They provide excellent opportunity for real life application through the problem solving activities in the book. This is a great stats book for those intimidated by math and particularly statistics.
This book helped me to get an A+.
This is the third edition of the stats textbook and although not much has been altered it explains the subject in a really helpful way. Makes the subject a lot easier to understand
The book is coming apart at the seem. but otherwise pretty good
This is a pretty good book. Great examples, it would be better if the answer key showed the work and not just the example for some of the sample questions. Also, found put after purchasing that this book was not compatible with my kindle, so I can only access on myg laptop through the kindle app. It seems odd that this is the case.
Bought this for a Grad stats class, but honestly, this book is very well written! The step by step directions along with video links makes it a breeze to learn stats.
I took this class online with instructional powerpoints as my only other explanation of the concepts and mathematical processes. As it turns out, I didn't even need the powerpoints, as this book is very clear and helpful.
I had tried to take statistics in geography the semester before, but the textbook was awful and did not help me at all. I could never make any sense of its unnecessarily complex and insufficient explanations. So retaking the class in psychology with this textbook was a huge relief.
This book does contain long-winded explanations for formulas, as well as those ridiculously pointless definition formulas, but you can just skip them and go straight to the computational formula, read the instructions immediately around it, and examine the example problem to figure out what to do.
Statistics is a painful class, even for those who do not have problems with math. but this textbook makes it doable. If you end up having a good professor, then it will be even easier. Good luck!
